The ‘on-screen ageing’ debate refuses to die down in the Indian television industry as both male and female actors continue to quit their respective shows, to avoid portraying older characters. The most recent example being Vivian Dsena who has made his departure from a prime time saga. But, actor Mohsin Khan — who is a popular male lead on TV today — begs to differ.
The 27-year-old plays father to a five-year-old boy in his ongoing show. And says that he had no qualms in playing a dad. Mohsin says, “There were never any apprehensions; after the leap in the show, we were supposed to have a five-yearold kid. When they informed us, the only question I asked was what will be his name as there has been some discussion around the same… In fact, I was quite excited to work with a kid.”
The actor shares that when it comes to work, he’s pretty sorted. He believes in doing his job and letting the fate take its course. “My profession demands me to portray different characters,
and while doing so age is the last thing that comes to my mind. When I started off, I was sure that I would be open to anything that would push me to put my best foot forward,” he says, adding, “I know there’s the possibility of getting stereotyped, but worrying about it won’t solve anything. It’s better to work on the same, and I’m ready. Even as a person, I don’t think much about what the future holds for me… Before becoming an actor, I was an assistant director and before that, I was an electronics engineer!”
